Fire Mountain – 2.1kW Electric Halogen Patio Heater with Table Review

Fire Mountain have released an aluminium heater targeted to both the commercial and home user that also comes with a practical built in table.

This heater is ideally suited to commercial venues as the power cable is 10 meters long, so you won’t find yourself struggling to reach that nearest plug socket!

With 3 different heat settings (900W/1200W/2100W) you’ll be able to keep your clientele, family or friends comfortable whatever the weather.

As this heater has a dual halogen bulb system, you’ll experience maximum heat from the moment you switch it on. The manufacturer claims a bulb life of approximately 5000 hours which is average for a standard halogen heater, although if you’ve got the heater consistently on full power, you should expect a slight reduction in life expectancy. Fear not though, as replacement filaments are cheap to purchase, with most costing between five and ten pounds.

This is a tall heater, measuring in at 210cm. We’ve noticed that the height isn’t adjustable, so do make sure you’ve got enough space to fit it in before purchasing.

It is easy to move as it comes lockable wheels and and weighted base, so it shouldn’t fall over or go walkies even in strong winds.

Some assembly is required, but it’s fairly simple to put together.

Also available without the table.

How much does the Fire Mountain 2.1kW cost to run?

The Fire Mountain 2.1m, 2.1kW halogen heater uses uses 2100W per hour.

The average cost per kWh in the U.K is currently 14.7 pence. So to calculate the hourly usage we do the following.

2.1kW heater running costs:

2.1kW x 1 hour = 2.1 kWh x 14.7p = 30.87p
2.1kW x 2 hours = 2.1 kWh x (14.7p x 2) = 61.74p

Assuming we were to use this heater for 2 hours a night every night.

On full power (2.1kW or 2100W) our monthly electric bill will be £18.52
On the medium power setting (1.2kW or 1200W) our monthly electric bill will be £10.58
On the economy setting (0.9kW or 900W) our monthly electric bill will be £7.94

We’re pleased that this heater has multiple power settings as it offers users an economical option depending on weather and how much you want to spend!

Is this electric patio heater suitable for home or commercial use?

The Fire Mountain 2.1kW free standing heater with table is suitable for both home and commercial users. We believe it’s targeted more towards the commercial user as it has a 10m long power cable, although some home users may find this helpful as it prevents the need for a power socket on the outside of the house!

The aluminum facade of this heater is visually appeasing, it is fairly cheap to run and the table is a great space saving addition. It’s primarily targeted towards the commercial sector and we think it’ll look great in pubs, clubs and restaurants. The weighted base means it’ll be less susceptible to the elements and vandalism as well.

The 10 metre power cable is a welcome addition as most heaters come with a 2-3 metre cable, which can be a bit of a logistical nightmare.

At £139.99 it’s a bit pricier than other heaters that offer the same heat output, but it’s a solid, well built heater. We just wish it was weatherproof!

It’s also available without a table for £20 cheaper.
