Firefly – 1.8kW OL2801 Weatherproof Wall Mounted or Free Standing Patio Heater Review
These high efficiency ruby halogen powered patio heaters are stylish and affordable, but are they worth it? Let’s find out.
The official Primrose website states a maximum heating area of approximately 9sqm. Perfectly suitable for small gatherings or heating individual tables.
There are other heaters in this price range that offer wider heating area – The Futura Deluxe 2.0kW will cover approximately 25sqm for 4 pence less!
Element Life & Heating Type
Halogen bulbs are fairly efficient, this one is no exception, providing up to 5,000-hours of lamp life. Replacement elements are fairly cheap at just £19.99 although at time of review they are discontinued and out of stock!

No adjustable power settings.
Supplied with a 2-metre long power cable and rated at 230v, 50Hz. 3-pin British standard plug included.
The OL2801 is a snazzy heater. Built from anodized aluminium offering protection from the elements and the halogen lamp provides a soothing incandescent glow, which is sure to add something to any outdoor space, be it commercial or home!

Features & Extras
Each Firefly 1.8kW heater is supplied with a remote control and an easy-fit wall mount. The optional floor stand costs an additional £30 and is well worth the money.
What this heater lacks in heat it makes up for in other ways. Namely the superior ingress protection rating of – IP55
Solid rating 5 – protected from dust and solids.
Liquid rating 5 – will run even when subjected to low-powered water jets. Usable in all weather conditions.
This is a great mid-range home or commercial patio heater. Suitable for bars, pubs and restaurants as well as the patio or garden at home.
How much does the Firefly 1.8kW OL2801 Patio Heater cost to run?
The cost to run this heater before electricity based on an element life of 5,000-hours (without stand) comes to just under 2 pence at £0.018 per hour.

This heater has a lot to offer, the weatherproof rating and general aesthetic of this patio heater is excellent. There are alternatives available that have a superior heating area but cost slightly more to run.
If you’re looking for a snazzy heater that won’t break the bank and requires little to no maintenance then we can highly recommend the Firefly 1.8kW OL2801. If you buy more than one you can save 5% as well!
