With up to 9sqm of heat coverage and multiple power options, suitable for indoor and outdoor usage with an impressive weatherproof rating of IP55 and it comes with a remote control as well as timer and safety features.
This is quite possibly one of the cheapest no-glare heaters available on the market today!
Firefly (HeatLab)- 1.8kW “Black Heat” Wall Mounted Weatherproof Patio Heater
This heater from Firefly offers a number of features that you usually only see on patio heaters priced in excess of £200 pounds. It has some drawbacks but you can’t expect it to have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive heaters!
According to the primrose website, this heater offers up to 9sqm of heat coverage.
Element Life & Heating Type
The black heat 1800W patio heater from Firefly boasts a lamp life of up to 5,000 hours. Offering instant infrared radiant heat. There are no replacement elements for this heater so once the element has expired you’ll need to recycle the unit. This isn’t a major issue as it’s a fairly affordable heater but certainly a drawback.
Power Settings & Specifics
Two adjustable power settings – 900W / 1800W
Supplied with a 2-metre long power cable and rated at 230v, 50Hz. 3-pin British standard plug included.
If you’re in the market for a no-glare ceramic wall mounted heater then this ticks all of the boxes for those of you that want heat without the harsh glow of a halogen bulb.
It comes in a standard aluminium silver with black ceramic panels. Measuring in at 109cm (length) x 23cm (height) x 4.5cm (depth) it’s a fairly compact heater!
Features & Extras
Supplied with a remote control and 5-hour timer.
Another major plus for this heater is the ingress protection level – IP55
Solid rating 5 – protected from dust and solids.
Liquid rating 5 – will run even when subjected to low-powered water jets. Usable whatever the weather.
We would recommend this heater for home users, usable both indoors and outdoors. As there are no replacement parts available and it has a limited heating area, commercial users may find that they are better off investing more money in one of the Veito range. Or in a low glare Optima Heaters patio heater.
Cost to Run?
At the price of £119.99 the cost of running this heater before electricity is just over 2 pence per hour (£0.024).
To calculate our electricity costs we do the following (based on the UK average of 14.7p per kWh)
Heater running costs:
Full Power (1800W) – 1.8kW x 1 hour = 1.8kWh x 14.7p = 26.46p (per hour)
Low Power (900W) – 0.9kW x 1 hour = 1.8kWh x 14.7p = 13.23p (per hour)
Assuming we were to use this heater for 2 hours per day.
