Garden Glow – 2kW Weatherproof Wall Mounted Electric Patio Heater
We weren’t sure what to make of this heater at first – but it has a price point which is cheaper than other wall mounted heaters and packed with plenty of redeeming features it quickly grew on us! Keep reading to find out why.
With no official information provided aside from “they heat a wide area” – we’ve estimated the maximum heating area of this indoor or outdoor heater is between 9sqm-12sqm.
It also has a wider tilt range than other wall mounted heaters, measuring in at a maximum of 45°.
Bulb Life & Heating Type
Supplied with quartz halogen heating elements offering radiant heat and ambient lighting. Perfect for the home user.
We were surprised to see a bulb life of just 3,000-hours as 5,000+ is the standard – however the replacement bulb costs just £12.99 – making this heater incredibly affordable.
Power Settings & Specifics
3 power settings – 650W / 1350W / 2000W – We love heaters that come with adjustable power settings, they’re a great feature to have, especially for home users who like complete control over how much they’re spending!
The Garden Glow large wall mounted heater is supplied with a 1.5-metre long power cable, so do ensure you’ve got a plug socket handy.
Running at 240v.
Constructed from weatherproof steel with black plastic sides we love the overall aesthetic of this heater. It feels a lot more expensive than it actually is and the ambient glow from the quartz bulb adds a lovely ambience to any outdoor area.
Features & Extras
The Garden Glow 2kW large wall mounted heater is supplied with a 4 piece wall mounting bracket system, comes with over-heat protection and remote control which controls the heat settings and timer function. The heater is supplied with a 1.5-metre long power cable with 3-pin plug, ready to plug-and-play out of the box as soon as you’ve fixed it to the wall!
Offering some protection against the elements with an ingress protection rating of IP34.
Solid rating 3 – protected tools and thick wires larger than 2.5mm.
Liquid rating 4 – protected from water splashing from any direction. Do not use this when it’s raining, it’s weatherproof, not waterproof!
This is a great patio heater for the home user – and while it does have a limited appeal for the commercial users as well due to the cheap replacement parts, you would have to replace the elements once every 333 days assuming 9 hours usage a day.
Cost to Run
Based on the current purchase price (at time of review) £59.99 the cost per hour before electricity is £0.019. Which drops to less than half a penny (£0.0043) per hour factoring in the cost of a replacement bulb.
To calculate the cost of electricity we need to do a little math – based on an average U.K. cost per kWh of 14.7p.
Heater running costs:
Full Power (2000W) – 2.0kW x 1 hour = 2.0kWh x 14.7p = 29.4p (per hour)
Mid Power (1350W) – 1.35kW x 1 hour = 1.35kWh x 14.7p = 19.845p (per hour)
Low Power (650W) – 0.65kW x 1 hour = 0.65kWh x 14.7p = 9.56p (per hour)
Assuming we were to use this heater for 2 hours hours per day.
Full Power – Our monthly electric bill will be £17.64
Mid Power – Our monthly electric bill will be £11.907
Low Power – Our monthly electric bill will be £5.74
When factoring in the cost of replacement parts, this is actually one of the most affordable wall mounted heaters available on the market!

Let’s start with the positives of this heater – it’s cheap to buy, cheap to run and has cheap replacement parts (can you see the recurring theme here)?
It’s actually quite a large heater, but its futuristic design and the ambient lighting offered from the quartz lamp makes it look like a wall feature, rather than an ugly intrusive behemoth.
The 1 year guarantee offers peace of mind should something go wrong and remote control operation with a timer feature is something that you usually have to spend in excess of £120 for.
Our only negatives are the power cable length and shorter than average bulb life. These shortfalls are made up by the cheap replacement lamp and the fact that it’s really not that hard to change a power cable!
