We’re looking at the Kingfisher wall mounted patio heater today; this wall mounted heater doesn’t cost much, but is it worth the money? Keep reading to find out.

Heating Area

Most 2kW heaters offer an approximate heating area of between 9-15sqm. As this is a wall mounted variant, you should expect the heat to reach up to 3 metres away from the installation point.

Bulb Life & Heating Type

Halogen heaters have a standard bulb life of 5000 hours. This heater is no exception. With the heat provided via quartz bulbs which take up to 30 seconds to warm up but provide tremendeous amounts of heat.

Power Settings & Specifics

This heater has 3 power settings. 650W / 1350W and 2000W. Most similar heaters have 3 different heat settings, however this one has a lower consumption that its’ competitors on the lowest setting. So if you’re particularly energy and budget conscious, this heater will suit you perfectly!

Installation of this heater is relatively simple and shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes if you’re handy with a drill although make sure you have an electrical socket nearby as the electrical cable is 1.7m long.

Aesthetics

This is a budget product and as such we shouldn’t expect too much from an aesthetics standpoint. That being said, it’s not ugly, it’s just a bog standard grey patio heater!

With anti-tilt protection, over-heat protection and a weatherproof rating of IPX4 this heater is perfectly equipped to deal with the elements and will keep running come rain or shine!

The tilt is also adjustable so you can target the heat where it’s needed most.

We Think…

We’re a big fan of what this heater has to offer at this price range. For around £30 you’ve got a solid unit that is weatherproof and has multiple safety features to give you peace of mind.

Running Costs

This heater uses 2kW on full power. We’ve done the math for you below.

The average cost per kWh in the U.K is currently 14.7 pence. So to calculate the hourly usage we must do the following calculations:

Heater running costs:

2kW x 1 hour = 2 kWh x 14.7p = 29.4p
2W x 2 hours = 2 kWh x (14.7p x 2) = 58.8p

Full Power – 2kW x 1 hour = 2 kWh x 14.7p = 29.4p (per hour)
Mid Power – 1.35kW x 1 = 1.35kWh x 14.7p = 19.85p (per hour)
Low Power – 0.65kW x 1 = 0.65kWh x 14.7p = 9.56p (per hour)

Assuming we were to use this heater for 2 hours a night every night.

A great heater if you’re on a budget. Especially on low heat.

Suitable For

Although these heaters can be used in a commercial setting, we’d recommend these for home users only as the only way to control the heat is via a pull cord on the bottom of the unit. Of course if you’re happy for clients to turn the heater on and off at their leisure then it’s not really a problem!
