Burda Tower Palms Weatherproof Patio Heater Review
We were absolutely astounded at the affordability of this heater. When you factor in cost per W and heating area, this is by far one of the most economical and most weatherproof heaters we’ve ever seen.
What it’s lacking in extra features, it makes up for in practicality.
This review covers the entire range of the “Tower Palms” heaters as they only differ in the number of heating arms and wattage.
Unfortunately, there’s no official documentation on the heating area covered by these heaters, but we should be able to give you a decent estimate below based on similar heaters.
Tower Palms 4kW – Estimated heating area between 30sqm-50sqm
Tower Palms 6kW – Estimated heating area between 45sqm-75sqm
Tower Palms 8kW – Estimated heating area between 60sqm-100sqm
100sqm is approximately 1076sqft – that’s larger than the size of the average home in the UK.
As you can see by the heating area these are built for commercial usage. They’re used in restaurants, ski pistes and any in any business that needs to heat a large area.
Bulb Life & Heating Type
The claimed bulb life of these halogen heaters is 5,000 hours. These heaters offer a running cost from £0.30 to £0.42 per hour before electricity.
While this is considerably more expensive than other heaters on the market, you’re paying half of a penny per sqm of heat, making it more affordable than it may at first seem.
Replacement bulbs are available from £120. Which makes the ongoing cost just £0.048 to £0.096 per hour, once we’ve factored in the cost of replacement bulbs.
Each heater comes with Philips HeLeN heating lamps – replacement lamps are also available in a Low Glare variant.
These lamps offer instant infrared heat amplified by effective Bi-Focus reflectors.
Power Settings & Specifics
There are no adjustable power settings within this heater. It offers a noiseless and eco-friendly alternative to gas fired heating.
These heaters are heavy. With each one weighing approximately 45kg.
Comes with a 3m power cable.
The Burda Tower Palms have a futuristic silver design, with a diameter of 110cm and adjustable height of between 250-270cm.
Features & Extras
If you need a patio heater for all seasons, then this is a must buy! With an ingress protection rating of IP67
Solid rating 6 – complete protection from dust and touch.
Liquid rating 7 – operation up to 1m of water. Ingress of water shall not be possible even when the enclosure is immersed in water up to 1m.
This is an ideal heater for bars, restaurants, warehouses, patios, balconies, decking, workshops, hotels and bistros. I would recommend them for ski pistes but we don’t have too many of them in the UK!
A perfect solution for any commercial user.
How much do the Burda Tower Palms Patio Heaters cost to run?
These costs are calculated based on an average cost of 14.7p per kWh in the United Kingdom.

RTT600V (6000W) – 6.0kW x 1 hour = 6.0kWh x 14.7p = 88.2p (per hour)
RTT800V(8000W) – 8.75kW x 1 hour = 8.0kWh x 14.7p = 117.6p (per hour)
Assuming we were to use this heater for 9 hours a night every night.
RTT400V (4kW or 4000W) our monthly electric bill will be £158.76
