Heating Area

This 3kW heater will produce a fraction above 10,000BTUs and this should heat an area up to 16sqm depending on ambient temperature (0-5°c will result in 12sqm up to 16sqm at 16-20°c).

With the high reflection parabolic reflector, this heater achieves what others don’t.

Bulb Life & Heating Type

These heaters are supplied with a SunKare Ultra Low Glare lamp with a life expectancy of up to 7,000 hours. Based on the manufacturer’s specifications, this heater, although consuming less energy, gives a larger heating area and is more cost effective than the 4kW Shadow. With a cost of £0.075 per hour before electricity, you’ll be paying 0.4p per sqm of heat per hour (before electricity).

Power Settings & Specifics

What sets this heater apart from the standard Shadow series is the remote control and adjustable power settings – 1500W / 2250W / 3000W.

The ShadowPlus+ series also comes with an extra long power cord measuring 4.5m long.

Features & Extras

These heaters are supplied with an “L” bracket and chains for wall mounting or ceiling mounting. They can be adjusted to direct heat where it’s needed most and each heater comes with a 2-year warranty and remote control (2 x AAA’s not supplied) 🙁

Weatherproof Rating

The shadow series has an ingress protection rating of IPx5

Solid rating X – not rated for protection from solids.

Liquid rating 5 – suitable for outdoor use during poor weather. Protected from low powered water jets from all directions.

Running Costs

Based on a purchase price of £529.99 (check latest price) these patio heaters will cost you just 7.5p per hour before electricity.

We base our running costs off an average of 14.7p per kWh in the U.K.

Full Power (3000W) – 3.0kW x 1 hour = 3.0kWh x 14.7p = 44.1p (per hour)
75% Power (2250W) – 2.25kW x 1 hour = 2.25kWh x 14.7p = 33.075p (per hour)
50% Power (1500W) – 1.5kW x 1 hour = 1.5kWh x 14.7p = 22.05p (per hour)

Assuming we were to use this heater for 9 hours per day (9am-5pm / 6pm-3am).

As far as commercial heating solutions go, this is well within the realms of affordable.

Just like the standard Shadow heater, this isn’t the cheapest commercial heater on the market, but you’re paying for quality and longevity with these heaters. Also available in a 4000W edition.
