Waterproof or weatherproof patio heaters are the latest and greatest thing to arrive on the market for home and commercial users alike. Never again will you have to worry about quickly shutting off your heaters because of a bit of bad weather.
The majority of patio heaters are rated IPX4 (Ingress Protection Rating) and above, which means they can withstand the splashing of water for 5 minutes or more. Water splashing against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect, utilizing either: a) an oscillating fixture, or b) A spray nozzle with no shield. Test a) is conducted for 10 minutes. Test b) is conducted (without shield) for 5 minutes minimum.
