VonHaus 2kW Water Resistant Electric Patio Heater
The VonHaus 2kW free standing patio heater.
VonHaus – 2kW Water Resistant Patio Heater
Fantastic at under £50, still a great purchase when it’s not on sale!
We’ve taken a quick look at the VonHaus before when we looked at 4 electric patio heaters under £50. But we wanted to go into a bit more depth discussing the features and reviews of this patio heater!
May is peak time for buying patio heaters as it’s almost hot enough to get the BBQ out but once the sun is down it can get a bit nippy! This does unfortunately mean that prices tend to go up more than they go down. So if you see this heater at £49.99 or less, then buy it now!
This review was undertaken when the sale price was £49.99 down from £64.99 (16th May 2017). With 113 customer reviews and an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.
It has a great bulb life of 2500 hours, is weatherproof (IPX4) and comes with a 2 year warranty.
Running Costs
As with most electric heaters, this has 3 adjustable temperatures, so running costs vary depending on consumption. We’ve done the math for you below.
The current average per kWh in the U.K is currently 12.2 pence. To get the hourly usage we need to do the following:
2kW heater running costs:
2kW x 1 hour = 2 kWh x 12.2p = 24.4p
2kW x 2 hours = 2 kWh x (12.2p x 2) = 48.8p
If you’re using the heater for 2 hours a night every night for a month.
Full power (2kW or 2000W) our monthly electric bill will be £14.46.
Mid power (1.35kW or 1350W), then it would cost us £9.76 per month.
Low power (650W) we’d be looking at £4.70 per month.
Most brands are identical to the Oylpa 2kW patio heater. Although we’ve found the Oylpa is cheaper, with a better bulb life. Unfortunately it’s regularly out of stock, but the VonHaus is competitively priced. So if you need a patio heater now and can’t wait for one. We highly recommend this one!
Suitable For
These free-standing heaters are aimed at the home user rather than the commercial user. They offer a lot of heat for a very small investment and running them can be quite economical. Commercial users will probably want something with a little more fire-power. We recommend the 15000W Firefly if you really want to keep toasty.

PatioMate’s Thoughts
A great all around patio heater. We love it!
This patio heater can heat areas up to 15 metres squared with ease. It’s affordable, comes with a weighted base to ensure we don’t accidentally tip it over after one too many beers, and is weatherproof rated (IPX4).
If you’re looking for a well finished product to heat your garden, patio, deck, summer house, gazebo, garage, workshop or whatever else takes your fancy, then this is it!
